// NVIDIA Quadro NVS 440 Primary Monitor Resolution Issue

For successfully install the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 440 on Windows XP where the resolution of the primary monitor was not present the following was encountered and
eventually fixed using the step described below.
Harware & Configuration
- Windows XP SP2
- 3 Samsung SyncMaster 225BW Monitors
- NVIDIA Quadro NVS 440
Issues
- Primary monitor resolution would not show the Samsung recommended 1680 x 1050
- Installation of the driver for the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 440 was successful
- Installation of the driver for the 3 Samsung SyncMaster 225BW Monitors were successful
- Swapping monitors as primary and changing resolution was performed but when restarting system, the resolution returned to 800 x 600
Corrective Steps
- Uninstalled NVIDA hardware drivers
- Verified that the recommended DirectX 9.0c was installed
- Re-installed NVIDIA hardware driver (Release 84.26 WHQL) & restarted system
- Viewed display settings and attached other 2 monitors (Note: the primary was then set to 1600 x 1200 temporarily)
- Clicked on systray NVIDA icon and enabled Desktop Manager
- Clicked on systray NVIDA again and selected NVIDA display and chose Analog Display (or botton item - choose any)
- Next clicked Quadro NVS 440 (2) and clicked Screen Resolutions & Refresh Rates (shown below)
- Next clicked Add under 'Custom resolutions and refresh rates' and then entered my desired 1680 x 1050 since it was not present
- Finally then slid the 'Screen Resolution' to my desired 1680 x 1050 and clicked ok
