Screen Copy Options:

Command + CTRL + Shift + 4
Will present you with a target icon that will allow you to select the desired portion to be copied. Using these key strokes will copy to your clipboard rather than create an image on your deskop.

Command + CTRL + Shift + 3
Copies the entire window and place on you clipboard for paste operations.
